The goals of SCM are generally:

  • Configuration identification – Identifying configurations, configuration items and baselines.
  • Configuration control – Implementing a controlled change process. This is usually achieved by setting up a change control board whose primary function is to approve or reject all change requests that are sent against any baseline.
  • Configuration status accounting – Recording and reporting all the necessary information on the status of the development process.
  • Configuration auditing – Ensuring that configurations contain all their intended parts and are sound with respect to their specifying documents, including requirements, architectural specifications and user manuals.
  • Build management – Managing the process and tools used for builds.
  • Process management – Ensuring adherence to the organization’s development process.
  • Environment management – Managing the software and hardware that host the system.
  • Teamwork – Facilitate team interactions related to the process.
  • Defect tracking – Making sure every defect has traceability back to the source.

and it is my job to perform those tasks.

Along my way to work, I turn on to my favorite radio station just to hear a bad news. One of the guys I look up to have passed away, Steve Jobs. Radical as he is he was never always a good friend, not always be a good boss and sure as hell not the person you want to mess up with.

However, Steve has come up with ideas, innovation and vision that not only change the perspective of how we look at things, but it also suit us and change the way we think, move forward and even change the way we live.

Ideas, vision and innovation begins on paper. On top of that paper is a combination of curves and strokes uniquely form a picture and we process that image inside our brain to structure a meaning. A simple stroke could form another idea. But it takes a novel sense from a complex mind to take some of that strokes and curves to form a whole new meaning of what should have been a very complex idea. That is innovation.

Write… It is not the audience that matters. It is no longer the matter of who forms the idea. It is what the idea you help them form and how does it play a role in their life.

Write… either by syllable or syntax. Some of us may not have the talent to write a persuasive or capturing combination of words. Some of us may have the capability to form a formula to help enhance every aspect of our life. While some of us write pieces of codes that is being processed in another medium to become an application. Which is applicable and useful to another human being, ready to be interacted with.

Write up… because idea, innovation and vision become revolution in so many ways. It flies over our head, beneath our feet, inside our palm, between our selection of words.

And in order to do so… read. It is the first thing that was taught to us.

sarbat is popular during feast, wedding kenduri, or together with evening snack. Even better sip on a hot day. Like Three6.
